Maa, The Soul of Every Home: A Mothers Day Celebration at Sanskar
Mother’s Day often holds importance for children and families as a day of celebration. Children may discuss it in school or with friends, but rarely understand the deep emotions behind honouring this day. At Sanskar, however, children learn the true meaning of Maa, a word rooted in love, sacrifice, and creation.
The word Maa comes from the Sanskrit root “मातृ (Maatṛ),” meaning one who nurtures, protects, and gives life. It is among the first sounds a child speaks, symbolising warmth, safety, and unconditional love. At Sanskar, children are taught that celebrating Mother’s Day is not merely a gesture, but a way of recognising this timeless bond.
The morning began with peaceful yoga and meditation, helping children centre themselves in gratitude. This was followed by a small Yagna performed with all students under the guidance of Jyoti Sharmaji, Satish Sharmaji, and Rachanaji. Their blessings created a sacred atmosphere that encouraged children to express respect in a spiritual and meaningful manner.
One of the most touching moments was when the children performed a heartfelt song for their mothers. They sang with innocence and sincerity, and the loving, proud expressions on the mothers’ faces became the most heartwarming sight of the day.
To make the celebration even more special, the children prepared jars filled with handwritten messages, each note carrying a small piece of their love. The thoughtful simplicity of this gift brought immense happiness to every mother present.
The celebration ended with warm smiles and full hearts, leaving families with beautiful memories to cherish forever.

Buddha Purnima

Buddha Purnima
On Sunday, the 24th of March, an important day is celebrated in both the Hindu and Buddhist calendars. This day is called Buddha Purnima. In this article, we are going to explore its spiritual significance and some of the traditions that take place during the festival.
It marks the birth of Buddha, who was born as Siddhartha Gautama. On this day, people remember his life, his teachings, and his message of peace and wisdom.
Buddha Purnima has a deep spiritual meaning for millions of people. It is a dedicated time for prayer, meditation, and reflection. Many believers visit temples, offer flowers and candles, and listen to sacred teachings. Another meaningful ritual involves watering a Peepal tree. They do this because Buddhists believe that this is the same kind of tree that the Buddha sat underneath when he attained enlightenment. The day also reminds people to follow core values such as compassion, kindness, and peace in their daily lives.
In conclusion, Buddha Purnima is more than just a religious festival; it is a profound celebration of peace, wisdom, and spiritual growth.

Adhik Maas

Adhik Maas
Adhik Maas is a special, extra month in the Hindu calendar. It occurs about every three years to help align the lunar calendar with the solar calendar we use every day. In 2026, Adhik Maas runs from May 17 to June 15.
People also call it Purushottam Maas, and there is a beautiful story behind this name. Long ago, this extra month felt sad because no god wanted to accept it. All the other months had special names and distinct importance, but this month felt unwanted. So, the month went to many gods and asked for help, but no one would adopt it.
Finally, the month went to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu was kind and loving; he accepted the month as his own and gave it his special name, “Purushottam,” which is another name for Lord Vishnu himself. From that day on, Adhik Maas became known as Purushottam Maas and was considered very holy and special.
During this month, many people pray more, read holy books, help others, and donate food or clothes to those in need. People believe that doing good deeds during Adhik Maas brings abundant blessings.
Most people do not plan weddings or host big parties during this time. Instead, they focus on becoming calmer, kinder, and more thankful.
Ultimately, Adhik Maas is very special because it teaches us to help others and be kind, especially to anyone who feels left out or unwanted.
